What is the correct stylus for an SGT-200?
Probably a noob question, but I have read online that the 154100 is the correct stylus, but on the machine itself it says to use a 149000 in it. Does it even make a difference? I have the 149000 in it now and it works just fine.
Thanks! _________________ 2 - RCA SFT-100

]RCA issued service information sheets as additions to the Service Manuals.
For the SGT200 - CED -3 service information no: 1 reads:
SGT200 players with serial numbers prior to 2295xxxxx have incorrect stock numbers on the labels for the stylus cartridge and on the stylus pickup arm.
The correct stock number is 154100
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
note : the 154100 has a stereo balancer on the stylus arm for improved stereo sound. But a 149000 cartridge can be used in the SGT200 with good results. |

With the 149000 you'll get some noise in either the left or right channel. Ironically I was using one of those in my player when I finally upgraded to a REAL sound system, and it sure didn't sound right! I've heard "CEDatum" can add the necessary parts to those to make them work better in stereo. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |
