You should recognize the seller's ID...they have been jerking the price up and down trying to get something to stick. The problem is that there is another seller who has stuck to their $500 BIN for a long time now and neither of them are borne out by the going market there.

Wing and a prayer stuff, and they aren't alone on eBay nor is it limited to CED players. The problem is that the others have backed off and those high starts were attention getters. A common strategy, ask for a ton of money and then drop it to realistic levels to make it seem like it was on SALE.

And eBay does call it a markdown in the auction listing, they show the former price and strike through it. It's some pretty desperate psychology.

FYI that seller pulled it because the item is no longer available after relisting it at around $700. There was another one that probably needs a belt or gear adjustment because it would play eventually.

Right now eBay looks somewhat like a crapshoot for players, the titles are sort of affordable with some starting well below $5...the shipping is the biggest cost almost. Fortunately disc sellers are fairly stable and not going nuts trying to sell something at whatever price they have a whim for.

But it's almost Christmas and tax time for all sellers. You're going to see some silly things now and then until taxes blow over again and they had to find something else to pay them.

If you hear that the economy is supposed to be good because unemployment is low it's moot because nobody is managing their finances well and they don't make enough. eBay is not the place to make rapid money like they think.

But enough on that. Caviar emptor - make sure the fish eggs aren't bad.
