|
|
Hey folks... finally got my SFT100 working and playback is 100%, but another gremlin popped up. There are occasions where the servo drive gear (part 107 - referencing the repair manual) gets slightly bound up on the smaller pinon gear (part 108). It most often occurs after loading a disc and playback begins. With a little help turning the drive gear, the gear quickly advances and catches up to where it should be, and playback is normal. The other times it typically binds is when I use the rapid advance or reverse buttons. This is an intermittent issue as well which makes it all the more frustrating. One minute I think I have it solved and bolt the cover back on, then the next I'm back to tearing everything down.
I've tried two different gear reduction assemblies both with the same servo gear binding problem. It's important to note that I'm using a new belt (thanks Josh!) but it was also having the same binding issues with the old belt I was using, so I don't think it has to do with belt tension. I fully cleaned and lubed all gears, tried shimming the end play on the worm gear, tried adjusting to multiple belt positions with washers, rebuilt the drive motor, and even swapped in a replacement servo arm. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
