I was thinking about this recently, but how many CED discs are lost media? The CEDs with movies are obviously available somewhere on other mediums like dvd or on streaming. Many rarer discs have been archived such as the aloha conference's and the memories disc. I was thinking of the Avon discs today, and I cannot find archives of a couple of them (of the ones known to exist). That just got me wondering how many other discs have been lost to time from being stuck in a private collection without any backup, the disc got scratched/destroyed, etc.
Are there any other discs besides the few Avon discs that are yet to be archived? _________________ Glitchy Mario

Hi Mario. I apologise for the late reply; it's been a busy month for me, so I haven't had very much free time.
To answer your question, I don't know exactly which CED titles are completely missing in any other media, but a few years ago, I researched titles that are only available on CED. I decided to look into this subject because it was asked by another member of this forum years ago but never answered. You can read it here:

Another CED title which could also possibly be lost media are the demonstration programs & test programs produced by RCA for their own use, which is Featured CED from Summer 2003.
Finally, there are some neat photos of some unreleased CEDs on cedatum.com which, I think, are unknown in any other media.
Those are, what I believe, to be the CED titles that are lost media. Just like you, I also think it's an interesting subject; I also have an interest in old movies which no longer exist and TV shows with missing episodes.
In conclusion, I hope you find out more information about some more lost media on CED, and that I was able to help you get started.
Good luck! _________________ Let RCA turn your television into Selectavision! |
