I'm planning to attend the CED Workshop this year, and I have a few questions on the best way to travel with a CED Player. I have to fly to get there, and I just want to make sure my players won't break further.

I have an SJT-100 and a Sears 934.54780150. I know there are shipping screws to keep the arm from moving. What are the specs of the screws for these players?

Beyond using the shipping screws and padding the player inside my bag, are there other things can I do to ensure my player stays safe?

So the shipping screws that I use for the J/K players is a Stainless #6x3/4" Slotted Hex Washer Head Sheet Metal Screw for one side, and a #10x3/4" of the same for the other side. One side is smaller than the other.

As for the Sears/Hitachi/Realistic players, there is a small hole on the stylus arm that accepts a screw, I don't remember what size it is off hand as it's really long, probably not something they sell at the hardware store. But you should be able to just use a tooth pick, clip off the point and insert it in the hole, clip it again flush with the top of the arm and put a piece of tape over it to keep it from coming out. It just has a hole under the arm that it goes into to lock it in place, so as long as the tooth pick doesn't lift up the arm isn't going anywhere without some force.

Another thing that Hitachi did was had a piece of corrugated plastic in the shape of a disc that was inserted into the player during shipping, I'm not 100 percent sure the reasoning behind this but it certainly couldn't hurt. Just put a disc on a piece of cardboard and trace around it, then cut it out and insert it in the player during shipping.

That's about all I can think of for those two units. Just some bubble wrap around the edges and I would write "Glass" all over the box just to try and make them be careful when handling it.

Personally I would probably remove the stylus from both players as well and put them in my carry on between my clothes. Put them in a pill bottle to prevent any damage to them. (I've never taken one through airport security so not sure if they would say anything about them in a scan or not, they do seem kinda weird...?)

Do you think the styli could go through an xray machine? Idk what that kind of radiation could do to it if anything.
