Hey there everyone! I'm new to CED as a whole and I'm looking at picking up one of Toshiba model CED players because their aesthetic is pleasing to me. However it seems like parts can be hard to find for it, is there any good place to buy a replacement stylus if it is needed or if anyone has one on here? Same with belts and etc.,
Also pertaining to stereo sound in the VP-100 models, is there any homebrew method for getting stereo sound from the unit? The stereo adapter seems even rarer than most CED units themselves.
Thanks everyone! |

Welcome to the CED community!
CEDatum.com offers parts and services for players. I’m not sure if they offer styli, but they have an inspection and cleaning service for styli.
With the Toshiba players, they have a belt that can fall off, and they do have a grooved belt mod available if the belt wears out.

As for homebrewing stereo out of the player, I’m not aware of a way. I’ve wanted to find a stereo adapter (and the type for hitachi players) to design a modern open source version that anyone can build, but I haven’t even seen any pictures of the circuit boards inside to even attempt it, so for now, I don’t think there is a way to stereo out for now. _________________ Glitchy Mario

Thanks for your reply and sorry for coming back to you so late! I'll be sure to check out his website. Perhaps when I get the player I'll open it up and see if I can see how it draws the stereo audio, perhaps I can even just solder on some jacks.
I'll also keep an eye out for the adapter and if I happen to get it in some way I'd be happy to open it up and share what's inside. I work for an electronics refurbishing company, maybe one will turn up in a box somewhere. |
