I was thinking about this recently, but how many CED discs are lost media? The CEDs with movies are obviously available somewhere on other mediums like dvd or on streaming. Many rarer discs have been archived such as the aloha conference's and the memories disc. I was thinking of the Avon discs today, and I cannot find archives of a couple of them (of the ones known to exist). That just got me wondering how many other discs have been lost to time from being stuck in a private collection without any backup, the disc got scratched/destroyed, etc.
Are there any other discs besides the few Avon discs that are yet to be archived? _________________ Glitchy Mario

Hi Mario. I'm sorry for the late response, but I don't know for sure which RCA Selectavision CED titles don't have any other references to besides their existence on CED. One guess that I have would be the test discs that were produced by RCA for their own internal company use. One of them is an old featured CED title, which you can read about on here:
http://www.cedmagic.com/featured/demo-program/demo-program.html
There is also another list of these discs that Tom wrote here:
http://www.cedmagic.com/featured/demo-program/test-discs.html
If you're interested, a few years ago, I wrote a list of titles that I think only exist on CED, which I discovered mainly thru my own Internet research, which you can read here:
https://cedmagic.classicconnect.net/viewtopic.php?t=3193
Finally, I also found some neat pictures on cedatum.com of some really rare prototype discs that were owned by some employees of RCA that are now in the CEDATUM collection. Here are the links to them:
https://cedatum.com/blackhawk-films/
https://cedatum.com/rare-discs/
https://cedatum.com/retail-sales-discs/
Those are all of the lost media that I know of which exists on CED. I wish I had more information, but I thought you would find them interesting. Just like you, I think it's an interesting subject that I would also like to find out more about.
Good luck! _________________ Let RCA turn your television into Selectavision! |
